Socio demographic determinants of nutritional status of preschool children in Kerala

Healthy and nutritionally adequate diet is a basic human right and an essential condition for sustainable development, especially in developing countries. Malnutrition is a major public problem, very often neglected, and when neglected may leads to serious consequences. Malnutrition is common in poverty as in wealth, one for the lack of food, the other for the lack of knowledge of food.  The world health organization (WHO) has reported hunger and related malnutrition as the greatest single threat to the world’s public health. In the present study, an attempt was made to find out the nutritional status of preschool children in between 4-6 years of age group and the role of socio demographic determinant in child nutrition.
